Rina's Cello

This was one of the most difficult centre seam repairs that I have done to date!

Two things that made this really tricky was that the past repair was done particularly badly and the plates at the join were warped really badly. Additionally, because of the pat repair, the edges of the centre seam needed to be cut back that much that a new piece had to be grafted in to keep the back wide enough to fit the ribset once done.

The neck was kept in place with, not one – but two of Frankie’s screws and the block at the bottom was chewed out that badly that it would have needed a bass end pin if it was merely reamed out to correct it.

Some weeks later, once all of the patches, grafts and sizing was complete the end result was a pleasing feather earning experience:)
